FAQs
What is the pricing for the camp?
The all-in pricing of the camp will be $250 per child. This includes snacks, beverages, and a t-shirt.
How can payment be made?
We take cash and Venmo/Zelle/Cashapp/Paypal.
What are the age ranges that are eligible to attend?
We are looking for middle-school boys aged 10 – 14, but we will make exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
Where will the camp be located:
The camp will be located at St. Francis Montessori School in Irving, Texas. There will be one day that the boys will busk in a nearby town to earn money and show off their newfound skills.
What kind of safety measures will you enact?
Safety is a priority for us and to that end all camp counselors are required to undergo background checks, and all safety courses required by the state of Texas. We will also have a fist aid station in the facility. There will be hand-sanitizer and required hand-washing before meals. We will also need emergency information for all attendees.
Since we are renting the space from St. Francis Montessori and are not associated with the school, there will be a waiver to sign, exempting St. Francis Montessori from all liability associated with the camp and the camp leaders. There will be also be a qualified staff member from St. Francis on site to assist with all logistics.
What is your policy on bullying:
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying, exclusive or inappropriate behaviour of any kind. Any such behaviour discovered at camp will be dealt with extremely seriously and could lead to permanent exclusion from all Active Day Camps activities. We will strive to make our camp one where joy and camaraderie are the norm, and people lift each other up, not break them down.
What experience do the camp counselors have running camps/educating children?
Two of our camp counselor leads have extensive experience teaching young men and running summer camps. Patrick Alvis taught high school boys at Gregory the Great Academy for two years as well as coaching rugby. Isaac Shipman has helped run a summer camp for middle-school aged boys for 5 years.
Is the camp religiously affiliated?
Yes, St. Julian’s Boy’s Camp is run by devout Roman Catholic’s who strive to live out their faith in all facets of life. The camp will include prayers before every event and a rosary every day. However, you do not need to be a Catholic to attend our camp. We believe the skills we will teach are edifying no matter what your faith background is.
My child would only be able to attend a portion of the camp, would you be able to offer a pro-rated fee?
We will try to offer any accommodation with fees that we can but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to offer a discount.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
We offer a 100% refund up to 48 hours before the launch of the camp. If the family’s circumstances require a cancellation due to illness or distress we will be happy to accommodate.
What is your policy on technology?
The St. Julian’s camp will have a strict no technology policy, including cell-phones, smart-watches, and portable video-game devices. If any child has a phone they need to bring to contact parents it will have to be surrendered to the counselors and returned at pickup. The counselors will all have cell-phones on them for emergency purposes and time-keeping but will be discouraged from using them in front of the boys as much as possible. We believe that education and fun are better without the distraction of technology.
Is there anything that my child needs to bring:
Yes, they will need to bring a bagged lunch. We will have more than enough snacks, water, and mineral sunscreen, but your child is free to bring any water bottles and snacks they wish. They should bring any medications, inhalers, or epi-pens that they need. It will be a classic hot Texas summer so children should wear comfortable active-wear.
